[Ah, so that's why he reached out, although she realizes "checking up on her" and "needing information" aren't mutually exclusive, this still makes more sense.]
[Checkups are for people who don't have a edgy loner rep to maintain!!! But yeah, maybe he was killing two birds with one stone, sue him. To his credit, if she'd implied she was in worse shape he'd have given the matter some more appropriate attention before skipping to the what-can-you-do-for-me. But they're not really made of time, right now.]
Ex-military scientist, name of Zan Nikora. Cooked up some designer bioweapons for them back in the day that are getting a hell of a field test all of a sudden, if you get me.
[So, find Nikora, find the man most qualified to formulate a quick cure to the pandemic and the man most likely to know how it got out in the first place.]
[He's a high enough level to go after the Nikora warrant, so it only makes sense for Jason to need information about his whereabouts.]
i did some digging when the warrant went live, sending it now. but my best clue is that he was seen wandering around old town raving about fuck knows what. looks like he might be playing with his own toys.
[The file she sends over is mostly information about Zan before disappeared, projects he worked on, a small note about his family, whatever she could dig up from public (and slightly less public) channels. It's nothing that Jason likely couldn't find himself if we wanted, but it would take time that he doesn't have.]
[Point. Counterpoint, for the sake of covering their bases—]
Smart man like that doesn't start a pandemic without giving people a reason to want to even the score.
[Even if it isn't damage control, foul play is not at all out of the question. That said, his money's still on the former—Nikora's name didn't drop until today, so anyone plotting revenge would have had to have a hell of a leg up on the rest of the Quad. Makes a whole lot more sense if Nikora's just playing stooge for whoever decided that they wanted to launch this bioattack in the first place.
The question then, is who. Maybe Nikora has a few ideas, if he's still in shape enough to share them.]
Do me a favor and keep an ear to the ground while this shakes out. I'll try to keep myself kicking long enough to make it worth your while.
don't know the lethality yet. it's a risky revenge
[Jason has a point and maybe there's some sense of karmic justice if he was right, but speaking from her own view point, Kara wouldn't fuck around with an uncertain death if she was angry at someone. A bullet to the head is a lot surer revenge than a virus that might not even be lethal.]
sure thing. if you get sick, try not to push yourself too hard. i'd hate to lose the bet.
[True, he's a little more disposed to a poetic justice when it's been earned. Always had something of a dramatic streak. If you've got a point to make, it doesn't mean anything if the guy doesn't get a chance to appreciate it.
Could say the same about setting him loose half-out-of-his-mind after he did your dirty work for you. A scapegoat that can't defend himself is better than one that doesn't surface at all. But there's no saying he won't recover on his own, if he's lucky. Odds don't seem to be in his favor, though.
Speaking of which, it's a little late to worry about if he's getting sick, but he's not going to tell her that. No rest for the wicked, et cetera.]
Lets hope my immune system can measure up to yours.
[Go big or go home, although mostly it's because if something isn't bad enough to warrant proper revenge, Kara doesn't give enough of a shit to bother with it. Someone wronging her in a minor isn't worth "revenge".
But really, it's not that big a deal, so she sends a second text a few sconds later:]

[What a lovely compliment, it's the nicest thing that Kara's ever said.]

Now I know I'm seeing things. Maybe I really am a goner.
[It was a good run while it lasted, etc.]

[Well there goes any niceness, although she's mostly just teasing.]

I'm sure you'll write me a touching eulogy.
[(Flippant, but it leaves a bad taste in his mouth after he sends it. Which is why, a few seconds later, he gets to switching gears.)]
Can you talk?
[Business, not pleasure. Usually they arrange to meet up, but maybe that's not a great idea at the moment.]

sure. what are you after?

Taste of his own bad medicine. [Makes you wonder.] Is that poetic justice or damage control?
no subject
[It happens, sure, but she highly doubts someone developing a virus that dangerous would skip on the safety protocol.]
